Supplier Spotlight - Homemade Events
Hi there Homemade Events, tell us a little about yourself...
We are an events company who specialise in organising weddings and providing products to hire for events like weddings. We have excellent knowledge about Somerset and Devon and feel that this gives us the best understanding of what will make the perfect wedding in and around this area.
We are a small company with three previous events on our books- we have background experience of working in this field. Ellouise has worked for an international food company as a project worker, dealing with suppliers from across the globe and creating Christmas food packs for high-end retailers. Flo has worked for several of Devon’s most popular wedding venues and has experience of organising weddings from start to finish. She has been accredited at a weddings awards show, and has many positive testimonials for the work she has done.
What was the inspiration for starting your business?
Ellouise got married in July 2014 and along with Florence we both organised the whole event including making all the decorations, sourcing the food, entertainment, crockery etc. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and received so many compliments about the setting, decorations and the small special touches of the wedding that we decided we should do it for other people as well!
What makes you different from "the others"?
We are sisters who understand that each bride wants her day to feel as special and personal as possible, but don’t always have the time to do the personal touches. That’s where we come in! We can add the personal touches to any Bride’s special day without her guests knowing it wasn’t her! Another thing that makes us different is that we can hire and make beautiful decorations for the weddings, bespoke and personalised to the Bride and Groom’s requirements.
What are you tipping as the next “big thing” for weddings?
We like to keep up with ‘what’s new’ in the wedding world and feel that there are several things on the horizon in the world of weddings:
• Flowers: Wild flower ‘just picked’- brides are loving the quintessential English Rose bouquets. They have been popular in 2014 and are going to be popular in 2015 as well!
• Drink Ware: Jam jars have been really popular and we think that this is going to continue. However we think that our rustic weddings are going to require some additional drink vessels. We think we will see the emergence of old milk jugs, and old milk bottles are going to be a hot trend- the more mismatched the better!
• Feature Tables: and no we don’t mean the cake table! We think that beautiful sequin tablecloths are going to overtake bunting as the wedding must-have accessory. They are perfect for a show stopping feature table!
Best advice for brides and grooms to be planning their wedding?
Take it easy, have your to-do lists for different areas of the wedding! Remember that it is YOUR day and you will only do it once- everyone else has either had their turn or will have their turn, so don’t do things to please anyone other than you both! Oh, and hire us!
