Hey there, tell us a little about yourself!
Hi! My name is Tony. I’ve been a photographer since 1996, started wedding photography in 2012 and went pro in 2014. I love it because I get to meet new people constantly and seeing the smiles on their faces when they see the photos makes me very happy indeed.
What inspired you to start your business?
Friends kept pushing me to make the jump to leave my job and set up my own business, but it wasn’t until my wife got a promotion that we decided I could turn pro. That basically means that I’m a house husband during those slow moments when I’m not out with the camera or editing photos, which is surprisingly satisfying.
Have you seen any trends in the wedding industry recently?
I would say the trend is to “non-traditional” weddings. The shabby chic, boho and retro styles seem to be very popular. Especially popular are hand making most of those extra touches that make a wedding special.
Have you noticed a difference in the weddings from when you started out to now?
Weddings seem to have moved away from formal, posed family photos and into fun and different shots. I put this down to Pinterest! I utterly love Pinterest. ☺
Top tip for couples planning their wedding?
Time management. Please build in extra time on all the steps on your special day. You’d be surprised how fast time goes, and the photographers are always the ones that suffer. One minute you’re chilling out chatting with the hair stylist thinking you still have 30 minutes before the next step. The next your bridesmaids are rushing around trying to get you into the dress and you’re 10 minutes behind schedule.
