Supplier Spotlight - Kitty Campbell Vintage
Well hello there, tell us a bit about yourself...
My name is Kitty Campbell, recently married (in April) to the man of my dreams and he fortunately gave me a great name on which I am going to build my business Kitty Campbell's Vintage Tea Party.
What was the inspiration for starting your business?
I have always been fascinated with 'taking tea' all the prettiness and etiquette (and normally cake!!) that surrounds it, stemming right back to when I was about 3 and granny taught me how to pour a cup of tea 'properly' with my own miniature tea set. My fascination with vintage china lead me to rummaging around in fairs (it's addictive!!) and now my collection has reached the dizzy heights of around 1500 pieces.
I am soon to be starting the life of a 'military wife' and I wanted a business that could work in different locations, and that may help me make friends in my new home. I envisage that a lot of my new clients will come from a military background, hiring china for garden parties, baby showers and weddings, and I would love to donate it for the use in charity cake sales and coffee mornings.
Why should we use Kitty Campbell Vintage?
I like to think I go 'the extra mile', literally. A lot of businesses aren't keen to cater for clients out of their normal area but, because I travel up and down the UK quite a bit, location isn't an issue. I am extremely organised yet give clients a personal and friendly service allowing everything to run smoothly at their event.
What are you tipping as the next “big thing” for weddings?
I'm not a massive fan of following trends, more an advocate of being an individual and doing what you want to do! That said, I am seeing a shift away from the whimsical and fairy tale look and more to the glam and luxurious. Fortunately there is a place for vintage crockery in both!
Best advice for brides and grooms to be planning their wedding?
Speaking as a bride who planned and executed her wedding in 4 months, organisation and delegation (yes, that does mean your husband-to-be needs tasks too!) are hugely important for stress free planning. However, have fun planning, ask your suppliers lots of questions and make the most of the build up to your big day!!
