Darling Hens is an emporium of activities for modern brides-to-be. We offer unusual, creative and delicious hen party activities for style-savvy hens. 

What inspired you to start your business?

Darling Hens is a sister company of the Darling Collective, which is a directory of off-beat and unique things to do. Immediately after launching the main site, we were approached by hen party organisers who wanted to book a cool activity that would set them apart from the kinds of hen parties that were prevalent in the market at that time - which were quite often tacky, tarty or twee. I quickly became the go-to girl at Darling for all things ‘hen’, and having worked as a high-end events producer in London for many years, I had an exhaustive knowledge of innovative and fabulous venues and suppliers. Last year, I finally got my wish - a website devoted entirely to creative, unique and gorgeously, unashamedly feminine hen party activities. 

What kind of hen are you?

Have you seen any trends in the wedding industry recently?

Our clients are becoming ever more discerning in their choices and are demanding a higher level of personalisation. Very detailed styling has become the norm, both at weddings and hen parties. Oversized light-up letters, spherical balloons, and cool typography are all still very popular, though the vintage trend seems to have had it’s day. Dried flower lollipops are having a moment, and allowing bridesmaids to select their own individual dresses in a specific palette instead of dressing them identically, is becoming more popular.

Have you noticed a difference in the weddings from when you started out to now?

When I started out as an events producer over ten years ago, I worked on a lot of weddings. I think that the industry has really blossomed since then and there is just so much more choice today, in every aspect of wedding planning. Couples have generally become much more savvy consumers, and the advent of sites like Pinterest have meant that they have access to a greater range of beautiful, inspiring imagery. Similarly, ten years ago hen parties were far more informal than they are now; people were happy to get their friends together for a meal or to go to the local pub. Now, hen parties have become accepted as a rite of passage to really celebrate the bride-to-be, and a whole new industry has grown up around that.
