Hey there Mello Mallo, tell us a little about yourself!

Hi, I’m Laura and I run Mello Mallo. We are a small business making handmade marshmallows and chocolate treats which are perfect for wedding favours or as part of a dessert table. I love taking custom orders, so if you have an amazing idea, get in touch!

I live with my boyfriend James and my cat, Thundercat. When I’m not whipping up a marshmallowy cloud, I like to read, go out for dinner (it’s a break from the kitchen!) and catch up with friends and family.

What inspired you to start your business?

I was inspired by two things – my current lack of a job, and my love of making pretty, sweet and tasty things! I made some marshmallow stirrers for Christmas presents and was instantly hooked my how versatile the little puffs of delight could be – mainly in terms of flavour, but also colour and decoration! If you can think it, I can probably make it!

Have you seen any trends in the wedding industry recently?

I’m still quite new to the wedding industry, but what I’ve picked up from customers of mine is that there seems to be a large handmade element to their weddings – and rightly so, as weddings can be so expensive! From reading wedding blogs I’ve noticed a trend for relaxed, chilled out weddings over the highly planned, traditional ones.

Have you noticed a difference in the weddings from when you started out to now?

Again, I’m still a newcomer to the wedding business… I’d love to see weddings become more relaxed, fun and colourful events… basically more of what I’m seeing now!

Top tip for couples planning their wedding?

Get recommendations for suppliers if you can, remember it’s YOUR day, and don’t forget to enjoy yourself, whilst planning and on the day itself!
